‘Audience Effects Theory

1)A passive audience is one that accepts media messages without critically analysing or questioning them, simply absorbing the content as it is presented.

2)An active audience refers to individuals who actively engage with and critically interpret media content, rather than passively receiving information, often influencing how the message is understood or acted upon.

3)The hypodermic needle theory is a communication model that suggests media messages are directly and powerfully injected into the audience's mind, influencing their attitudes and behaviour's in a uniform and immediate way.

4) INFORMATE SURVIELENCE: The times newspaper

Your learning about what's going on around you

PERSONAL IDENTITY: One of us

The high school tv show allows high schoolers to watch and feel like as it if they relate

DIVERSION/ENTERTAINMENT: Tiktok

People just scroll to watch entertaining/relatable videos for a long time and it keeps them entertained

RELATIONSHIPS: Keeping up with the kardasions

You are just watching a reality show about celebrities and what goes on in their life

5)In the Blue Planet clip, the audience gets different kinds of pleasures that match the Uses and Gratifications theory, which explains why people watch media to satisfy their needs. The beautiful underwater scenes help viewers feel like they are escaping into another world. The visuals show colourful fish and sea creatures, making people feel amazed and connected to nature. The voice over explains interesting facts about ocean life, so the audience can learn new things and feel more knowledgeable. People might also talk about what they saw with others, which helps them connect socially. The 3 Vs are used well in the clip: the visuals (like the ocean scenes) grab attention, the words(the voiceover) teach us facts, and the voice of the narrator makes the story more exciting and easy to understand. All of these things together make the clip fun and educational for the audience.
